Tailscale on iOS

On iPhone and iPad you set up Tailscale with the platform's coordination server, mainly for status checks and light access.

On this page

Install Tailscale from the App Store and open the app. So that it uses the platform’s workspace network rather than the default Tailscale network, you first enter the platform’s server.

Entering the platform’s server

  1. In Tailscale, open Settings → Accounts and choose Use custom coordination server. The label may differ depending on the app version.
  2. Enter https://headscale.application-platform.com as the server URL.
  3. Sign in with the account the platform expects for your workspace user. Your device then belongs to the workspace network.

If the app only offers the standard browser sign-in at this point, set up Tailscale on a desktop computer first, for example following the macOS guide, and use the same account on all devices.

What iOS is suitable for

For RDP and full desktop work, a Mac or Windows computer with Tailscale is the better choice. On an iPhone or iPad, Tailscale is mainly intended for checking the status of a workspace or briefly accessing a workspace app. What you need for that is described under Connect to your workspace.
